Meet us
Hello we are Toby and Mandy from Hinton Parva and we have created and now host The Owl Barn.
During the last two and half years we have designed, planned and built what we think is a great place to stay. Set within a quiet rural location but still within easy reach of the M4.
Whilst the project has taken longer than expected, it has allowed us to focus on the details and finishes that we think make a difference.
We have a wealth of experience working in hospitality, most recently running pubs in the neighbouring village of Wanborough which we managed to stick at for 25 years.
We look forward to welcoming you to The Owl Barn.
The project
The original building was a milking parlour from the late 1940s with limited foundations and an asbestos roof. There was little of architectural or historical importance for conservation and only materials that could be re-purposed were saved from the original dairy.
The Owl Barn project began building at the same time as the first lock down in March 2020. The footprint and roof height of the original building are unchanged but the foundations were set lower in order to accommodate a mezzanine bedroom level. A wet spring and a wetter winter followed along with acres of mud (see pics).
After two and bit years we were ready to go in September 2022 and after lots of testing by friends and family we opened and welcomed our first guests.
Our early feedback has been very encouraging!
